2 Surgeries for a Mole Removed, Strange Headaches?

I had a mole removed from my scalp above my temple, from a plastic surgeon and had to have stitches. It healed wonderfully with only a day or two worth of pain. When I went in again to get the stitches out, they informed me that they did not go deep enough and had to do it again (yeah, I was already scared about doing it once…!). The second time was quick but much, much more painful in healing, and I have two small bumps at either end of the stitches, which are sensitive but will flatten out in time.

Luckily, my mole had no abnormal cells at all. I am supposed to get my stitches out tomorrow, but it is still really sensitive and I am taking prescription painkillers still.

My concern is that I have this constant pain on the opposite side of my neck and in my temples and I’m losing a ton of sleep. I also had a complication where the anesthetic is still not completely worn off and it is really itchy. I called my doc about the anesthetic and they said that was normal, but why won’t my headaches go away?! Will they take the stitches out even if its really sore?

Thanks for any insight :(

First thing, the anesthetic is gone. The wound itches because the nerves have been traumatized. Itching is very common with healing wounds and has nothing to do with the anesthesia.

Your headaches are likely muscoskeletal in nature because you are still experiencing pain from the second surgery. Because of the pain you are likely sleeping in a different position and holding your head in a different position while awake unbeknowst to you. The muscles in your head and neck are tense because of the pain. As the pain resolves, your headaches likely will also.

Why don’t you contact your doctor… Though I DO NOT know the cause of the pain, here are some suggestions:
    #1 lack of sleep
    #2 stress
    #3 Lack of vitamins/minerals
    #4 simply a headache
You can try taking a hot bubble bath every night to release stress and calm down, then listen to some soft music and get into bed. Your headaches should disappear…
    Get well fast!!!
