Is It Safe to Lift Weights if You Pulled a Muscle in Your Neck?

No…we have a tendency to tense our neck when we do any upper body work. If you have the desire to workout, focus on your lower body until that neck muscle heals…and make sure you focus on keeping your neck relaxed!

Better to take some time off now, than a lot of time off later if you injure the muscle worse.

Not safe, not smart. Ease up. You in an Olympic Competition or something?

I would give the muscle a few days to heal first and if you feel any twinges stop and rest for a few more days. Its better to lose a weeks training to heal rather than a few months to injury.
    Hope this helps.

It is completely safe to engage in exercises that don’t directly ivolve,or strain the injured area(neck). For example curl’s,or lower body exercises. However the smart thing is to take it VERY easy during this time so as not to exacerbate your injury which will take between 3-6 weeks to heal if you have a common muscle tear.
