Should I Get Plastic Surgery? I'm 17?

well, the thing is, i’m hideous. really i am. i don’t want answers like "it’s what’s on the inside that counts" because i’ve heard it all before.
i want someone to answer my question, maybe if you are a doctor to give me some advice.
i don’t want loads of surgery to look like a trout- i think i am going for lip reconstruction, neck lift, eyelid lift and possible a nose job. am i allowed at the age of 17, even if i have the correct money?? i will pay loads more.
also, anyone know any good surgeons? money is no object- i only want the best, no cheap back-alley jobs please!
i am serious. i’ve tried everything to make me prettier- ive started smoking to loose weight, and even done cocaine to loose weight. now i’m thin, i’m still ugly.

also, i don’t want loads of people to comment. obviously they will notice the change. how can i shrug of the comments? and let people know i’ve had surgery without souding weird?

well thanks for your time.
i don’t need counseling because my head is fine inside. it’s the physical part of my head that is wrong. and i’m not gonna post any pictures on here because i don’t EVER have my picture taken. i avoid cameras.

Plastic surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

    Hope this helps.

good god woman, honostly surgery is just a quick fix. you have to deal with your mental state also. i know you might think this sounds dumb, but you have to be happy with yourself, the way you are. believe me, i’ev been around the block. everybody feels ugly from time to time, and your probably really frustrated, but it’s better for you to improve yourself naturally. it gives you that sence of power and fufliment. until you decide what’s best for you right now, think happy thoughts.

No, you should spend the money on a councilor to find out why you have such low self esteem!

I’m no psychologist, but it sounds to me like your minds already made up. Since you are going to get this done, I suggest you go to Miami- the plastic surgery capital of the world.

Before you actually get any done, just make sure it’s what you really want to do. You are only 17 years old, and your body is still changing. I’m only 19 and I know that my body will still continue to change. Any thing that you alter now, might make matters worse, or might harm you from growing. Go and have a consultation with a plastic surgeon…a good one, not one who’s just out to get your money and see what he/she says. Good luck.

NO!!! you should be happy with the way you are. It is a waste of money as well. Also you are way to young. If you are considering getting plastic surgery wait until you get old! And that is the truth no matter how many times you have heard it. also to boost up your confindance stop smoking and doing drugs, excercise, dont wear a lot of makeup, make a trip to the salon and all that good stuff.

I’m sorry that you feel this way about yourself. You are having a rough time. I think you should have surgery if that is what will make you feel better about yourself. How can you act confident if you don’t feel that way? You are very young to have plastic surgery but if it is okay with your parents, go for it.

    Good Luck ♥

No offense, but I would talk this through with a therepist first. I can’t verify this in your case, but you may be one of the millions of young ladies that have a mental condition where they see themselves as physically deformed or hideous, when in reality they’re not. If this is the case there is not a darn bit of good any amount of plastic surgery can do. If you’re happy with yourself, but just want to have a slight improvement somewhere, that’s the right reason to have plastic surgery.

oh hun, you are still growing. your features will most likely keep changing. you’re only a teenager. i’m not even sure a surgeon would allow you to have surgery until you’re 18. that’s a legal adult age

Wow sounds like you need some counseling, and the cocaine isn’t going to make you feel any prettier…Been there done that…every time I looked in the mirror and I was high I thought I was even uglier, no matter how skinny I was…no matter what I say isn’t going to change your mind about the surgery…but I hope that you can get off the high and realize that it doesn’t make you any more pretty to be skinny, Especially when the coke is what is making you skinny…it makes dark circles under your eyes and your bones stick out…That isn’t pretty!

If you MUST get surgery, just go for ONE surgery, but let me tell you something, other than Pamela Anderson, no guy likes a girl that is unnaturally beautiful. If we see a woman who looks like she has had surgery, we know that she was really ugly before and that she was self-conscious about herself. We relate hate when girls always obsess themselves about their looks rather than their relationships. If you’re DYING to have surgery, go to Beverly Hills for surgery – it’s the best place. Another great hospital is Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana. It has, perhaps, the best record in the country.

well. No. At that time, being only 17, you have your real beauty. Dont do that. When you get 40, how many surgeries will you do, since you’ ve started thinking it by now?

    (…this is just sad.)

    Edit:
But, honestly… you sound like the perfect candidate for plastic surgery…except the age part. you may THINK you know what you want…but seriously. just give it at least until you’re 21.

My honest opinion is do LOTS of research! I’m not going to preach, because you said you don’t want to hear it. I think you should talk to someone, about your self-esteem-if you don’t get that under control, no amount of plastic surgery will make you feel better about yourself. All I ask is that you think long and hard, do research to find out the pros and cons, and ask a lot of questions when you consult with the surgeons. If after all this, you still want the surgery, go for it! And don’t worry about the comments-people just like to have something to talk about! Good luck!

Why spend the money on plastic surgery. If you keep doing coke at 17, you’ll just die of a heart attack in your twenties. Who cares what you look like if you are dead?

Look i wont sugar coated if anyone knows how it feels to be fat is me i was and im proud of what youve accomplished any doctor can operate on you as long as you show maturity and do it for the right reasons which always has to be you ,but one thing that a sergery wont change is your views of yourself so always believe the inside is what counts because if you dont then you will just be superficial.

Honestly I would not advise it. You may hear about the people who had successful surgery but no the ones that didn’t. Even if you get the best surgeon there is always a risk and I don’t think you should take it unless it is a matter of life and death. Now I know you don’t want to hear this but I am CERTAIN you are not ugly. I know people who think they are ugly and I think they’re beautiful. PLUS: usually you can tell when people have had surgery and it is not very pleasant. Be yourself-not a barbie-thats what make humans so special we are all different but beautiful in our own way. Good Luck! :)

I think your parents might have to sign to get it done. That is a lot of surgery at one time, especially for the neck and face. I cant remember the names, but there are surgeons that are really good in Beverly Hills that have done celebrities. But for a really good nose job, it costs around $9000. You might be looking around $20,000-$25,000 for all that surgery. Try just getting 2 of the 4 surgerys done at one time. Then, if your sure you want the others, then go ahead and do it. Watch out for some surgeons that say they are way good. My cousin payed $4000 for a nose job 3 years ago. It looks horrible now, she has a bump.

wELL!! normally i would say to you that your crazy and you shouldn’t do it, but if you think it would make you look more attractive then give it a shoot. Don’t just take advise of the net, but do your research on the after effects and the healing process. I know how you feel because I am 18 & i want to get my lips reduced (if u dont believe me look @ all my questions) so just try to find the best doctor and talk 2 him or her about it and maybe they can discuss with you alternatives like botox and skin fixtures. Good luck!!!

I think you’re on a path of self sabotage, and you should make an informed decision about SERIOUS surgery when you’re not using drugs to lose weight. I had plastic surgery over ten years ago and have never once regretted it ,and might have more later in my life, but the key is to make an informed decision….not a hasty one.

P.S. Diet and exercise is the key to healthy weight loss…cocaine will only provide you with heart problems, jail. and rotting nasal cartilage.

Since we only see your avatar and not a real photograph of you, I have no real way of advising if you need cosmetic surgery. If you were disfigured by an accident, I would wholeheartedly suggest reconstructive surgery to restore your looks to pre-accident condition. If you’re trying to look like Paris Hilton or Adriana Lima, forget it. While you’re at it, drop the smokes and the coke; you don’t need to damage your looks with drugs, and you certainly don’t need to damage your health with drugs. See a counselor first before even considering going under the knife.

  32. Nnanyl
    May 20th, 2010 at 04:51 | #32

At 17 I don’t think anyone will legally allow you to get cosmetic surgery, come 18 they don’t care i’m sure, but untill then. Not going to happen unless you find a Doctor who is a bit on the shady side, and then, you are more likely to come out with a cosmetic surgery horror story than the face of your dreams.

Personally, I think you should wait. I mean I know that you are the one that has to live your life and that none of us can tell you what to do, or how to live your life but at 17 despite what you think you do not have the necessary life experience to make that kind of life-altering decision. First, you should learn to accept yourself for who you are and try to find ways to like yourself for other things beside your face; such as, can you sing, are you insightful, can you write damn good poetry, etc. If when you are older, many, many, years older hopefully you still find yourself suffering because of your self-esteem revisit this question.

There is no harm in taking your time with a decision like this, after all, medicine just keeps advancing.

As for people commenting on you having had plastic surgery, there is nothing you can do about the nature of other people. People are by nature, rude, curious, and a pain in the ass about tormenting and teasing anything that is different or that they don’t understand. If you do make this decision, you will have to consider these people as part of the surgery experience. You will not get away from them.

Do not under an circumstances take the advice of someone else for your doctor, that is a decision you need to make because it can be critical to your health, your life, research on your own. Research down to the doctor’s favorite color if you can, you need to know that much about them and his or her practices.

    May 20th, 2010 at 04:51 | #33

It sounds to me like you’ve already decided to have this done. My honest advice would be to wait a few more years. Work on yourself during that time and then mid 20′s decide if you still want to do this. In the mean time you should also do ALOT of research about the procedures and surgeons with the best record. I also felt like an ugly duckling at 17, but now that I am older (24), married, done with school, and have children I feel better about who I am. Good luck to you!

PS. Please no more smoking or drugs!!! It will be such a waste of time and money to make yourself "beautiful" if you are sick and/or dying!

  34. Marianne D
    May 20th, 2010 at 04:51 | #34

In all honestly, I can’t imagine that you are truly that hideous unless you had some sort of disfigurement or other condition. Have you seen a general physician to check for other conditions? Honestly, you may want to consider that you may have something wrong with your self esteem and surgery isn’t going to fix that. If you truly need an eyelift and neck lift at 17, then you could have a different medical condition that needs attention. Plastic surgery could be part of the overall treatment for whatever it may be.

Any plastic surgeon worth anything will do a thorough consultation and if you really have physical issues that need to be addressed, he/she will offer to help you (for their specified fee of course) but if they feel that it’s just teen insecurity they will tell you to seek counseling first or they will not do the surgery.

With your parents consent, you may get certain procedures but usually they must be medically necessary. If not, it’s up to the individual surgeon, but you must be an adult. Still. many surgeons will refuse to do certain procedures on patients under a certain age so when you call for a consultaion, make sure you ask for their policies regarding that up front so nobody wastes anyone’s time. Whatever you do, make sure you do consultations with atleast 3 doctors and that they are all board certified.

As for people’s comments, you have to be secure in your decisions and be prepared for all consequences before going ahead with any procedures. That’s another thing you talk to the doctor about. He/she knows everything that is normal after surgery, what can go wrong, etc. You have to decide ahead of time how you’ll deal with comments you will receive from people, both harsh and complimentary. I suggest you take the high road :-) Decide on something positive to say and change the subject immediately or go ahead and educate the person you are speaking to about plastic surgery. It’s entirely up to you. I don’t understand why it would be weird. If you felt it was something that you had to do for yourself, then people should accept that. Plastic surgery is not for everyone, but if it was something you felt you needed to do and you’re happy with your decision… End of story, right?

Are u kidding me???? (keep reading it gets good at the end*)

1.One don’t EVER put ur life in danger so u can look better!! Cocaine literally puts holes in ur brain and holes in livers. Does liver cirrohsis mean anything 2u???!!!!!

    2. have useen the latestepisode of Dr. Phil? She interviewed a 17 year old just like u whownted plastic surgery. a nose job and impllant. She wound up having 4 surgeries because she was underaged and the medicine they gave her, she couldn’t handle. She got an infection and everything that she got fixed started poking out. The risks are high and VERY dangerous ,You need 2wait till ur older.

    3. U grow into ur looks itdoesn’t happen ovr night. u still won’t b happy with the way u look anyway. U’ll still take hours 2 get ready inthe morning cuz u still don’t feel like ur pretty enough.

*I kno I didn’t awnser ur question the way u wanted me 2 but this is the truth its dangerus and u need to fix ur self esteem not ur looks. Take a spa day and relax. see a few dermatoloists and nutritionists and then if that fails go to a surgeon.

    May 20th, 2010 at 04:51 | #36

Sorry, but this extreme. A neck lift at 17? What makes you think you need it? I can understand a rhinoplasty and if you want to enhance your lips. And if you are Asian and want double eyelid surgery, I can just about understand that. But what I don’t understand is why you think just because you are not the model of absolute perfection, that this makse you ‘hideous’ or ‘ugly’. No-one is perfect, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t attractive or that there is anything seriously wrong with the way you look.

I know you don’t want to hear this and maybe you are in denial, but I do think you need to speak to a psychiatrist, as it sounds like you may be suffering from a distorted body image. I’m not trying to patronise you, but everything you describe tells me you have a very distorted view of yourself and you are prone to wreckless behaviour such as doing drugs or resorting to excessive cosmetic surgery in an attempt to fix perceived flaws that may or may not exist. Either way, you definitely have deeper issues that you need to work on.

    Take care : )
